My stomach hurts.

It's Sunday night, or it's the school gate, or it's twenty minutes before the party. The stomach ache is real — anxiety is a body event before it's a thought — and telling them there's nothing to worry about has never once worked, because you're arguing with a stomach.

This workbook doesn't argue. It gives worry a shape, a size, and somewhere to go.

Every page does three jobs.

It externalises the worry. A worry you've drawn and named is a worry that's outside you. Kids get this instantly in a way adults have to relearn.

It works on the body first. Grounding, breath, and pressure before any conversation, because the conversation can't land while the alarm is still going.

It makes the ladder gentle. Facing the thing in small, chosen steps — never a plunge — which is the only approach that doesn't teach avoidance.

📦 What's inside — 90 pages

  • The Worry Monster set — draw it, name it, decide how big a boss it actually is
  • 5-4-3-2-1 grounding — in four formats including a pocket card and a car-window version
  • Body-scan pages — where the worry sits, and what to do at each location
  • Brave ladders — blank and pre-filled, for dogs, sleepovers, swimming, speaking up, the dark
  • The school drop-off plan — a scripted separation routine plus a transitional object page
  • Thought detective sheets — the evidence-for / evidence-against page, written for 7–10s
  • Worry time — the fifteen-minute container that stops worry colonising the whole day
  • A parent guide — including the four sentences of reassurance that quietly make anxiety worse

❓ Common questions

Is this a replacement for therapy? No. It's a set of practice materials built on the same ideas therapists use, and a lot of families use it between sessions. If your child's anxiety is stopping them eating, sleeping or attending school, please talk to your paediatrician.

What age is this for? Ages 5–11. The grounding and body pages work younger; the thought-detective work needs about seven.
